Mayon Volcano in Phillipines Causes Evacuations - See in Google Earth
About 35,000 people near the Mayon Volcano in the Phillipines are being evacuated after at least 6 blasts were heard and a huge cloud of dust and ash was shooting into the sky this morning. From the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology: "Beautifully symmetrical Mayon volcano, which rises to 2,462 m above the Albay Gulf, is the Philippines' most active volcano. The structurally simple volcano has steep upper slopes that average 35-40 degrees and is capped by a small summit crater. " See this BBC Story (which includes pictures).
