ABC Primetime Uses Google Earth

Last night ABC Primetime used Google Earth in a story about 911 services using location technology for cell phone users. They apparently zoomed in on New York and gave credit to Google Earth in the upper right corner.

This is just one of many examples of news organizations using this technology both on TV programming as well as in their online news media. Google Earth is a great interactive visualization tool, and more people are realizing it every day.

(Thanks Christine!)

Do recall that Keyhole (now Google Earth) made its big splash on TV during the Iraq War, at least here in the U.S.

Good point! I know it has been used innumerable times already, and I should have pointed to this high profile early use of Keyhole.
I plan to do a more in-depth story about GE use in the media. Let me know if you know of other high-profile uses of Google Earth.

The BBC started doing this too....I noticed about a week back some middle east story used GE to zoom into the region (I first recognised the city name font!)
